Even MORE Info!
Because there has been a rule update, many players might want to know whether we will be playing with 2024 or 2014 rules.
For the time being, we will continue to run 2014 rules for our youth events. This is for two reasons:
There are SO many easy-to-find resources for people to find at low or no cost for the 2014 rules. Especially with our young players, we don't want to put pressure on young players to buy the newest rules for our events.
The 2024 rules have just come out, and we cannot promise that all players (or game masters) would be ready to use those rules as fluently as the 2014 rules.
Character Creation Guidelines for Eager Players
Character Creation Guidelines:
If your player wants/needs guidance, send an email to hunter@mercuryadventureclub.com and we might be able to schedule a virtual meeting prior to camp. GMs will be ready to help participants as they arrive, as well.
We will be using the 2014 rules for this event.
Any official race/species/folk
Any official class
New players are encouraged to pick from the Player’s Handbook for simplicity
Stats should be determined via “standard array” or “point buy” (NOT rolled, for the purpose of equity)
Use the starting equipment guidelines based on background
Any changes/customizations will be approved on case-by-case basis by the GM
Pre-generated character sheets will be available , especially if creating a character is feeling too intimidating for whatever reason
Character sheets can be physical or digital (using a device you provide)
