RPG Night
Life Beyond 5e...
When you find yourself wanting to try a new gaming system, it can be difficult to find a group willing to give it a shot!
As a response, we run monthly RPG nights, with each month focusing on a different system. This is a less rigid meet-up game, and the only requirements are that you come with an open mind and collaborative spirit.
Details:
"Play test" style (learning pace, no charge, tips encouraged)
Drop-in style, but reservations are recommended, as seats are limited!
Scheduled on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00
Location: Dreamers Vault Roseville
April - Starfinder 2e (II)
April 3 - Starfinder 2e
Technically, this will be our second replay of a system, only this time, it's a new edition!
GM Taran loves a little sci-fi and a lot of "crunch", and Starfinder 2e is a great system to offer both. Set in a universe connected to Pathfinder, this game has a terrific blend of magic and sci-fi technology.
This will technically be with the playtest ruleset, as eager players await the official core rulebook's release (unless there is a shipping update on the horizon!). Fans of Pathfinder 2e will find a lot to love, and fans of Starfinder 1e will find a system that is balanced with lower numbers and a little less crunch, but more opportunities to make huge impacts as a party, rather than only as an exceptional individual.
This event is limited to six players.
May - Dreams and Machines
May 1 - Dreams and Machines
Modiphius brings its narrative 2d20 system to a post-apocalyptic future!
Anyone who has been in the club knows that we love Star Trek Adventures, and generally the narrative 2d20 system used in Modiphius games. We also are suckers for beautifully created starter sets. Dreams and Machines offers both, and so we thought we would pick it up and try it out!
Explore Evera Prime--after humanity's pyrrhic victory over a machine uprising, people are left picking up the pieces of a broken world. As if this challenge weren't already great enough, the machines are re-awakening and rumors are spreading that the corrupted AI may not be as "deactivated" as previously thought.
This event is limited to six players.
June - TMNT and Other Strangeness
June 12 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Redux
This is still a kickstarter, so we may need to kick the can down the road...again.
Kickstarter can be a frustrating experience. There are some publishers that nail their campaigns every time (looking at you Free League!) and others that give you delays that are counted in years, rather than months. However, we are excited that the book is about to get sent to the printers. Will it be ready by June? Don't hold your breath...
But provided shipping happens, let's create mutated characters--or tie the classic colored bandanas around our eyes and loose everyone's favorite turtle brothers on the streets of NYC! This game is as old as I am, so it is likely that EVERYONE has an idea or two about what to do when we finally get to be heroes in half-shells.

July - Broken Tales
July 10 - Broken Tales
Let's turn fairy tales upside down. You are the "villains" on a mission.
This game has a great visual design, but of course it all comes down to gameplay. And thankfully, this game presents enough "new" ideas to make for a fresh narrative, paired with a solid system that will be a good foray into non-D&D systems of gameplay and storytelling. This game was on several "best of" lists in 2024, so come see what all the excitement is about!
Your characters are sent by the papacy through 18th century Europe to investigate supernatural events, mysticism, and horror. Seek redemption in a setting where a child savior has rewritten the stories of old, challenging our memories and our pasts.
This event is limited to six players.
August - Triangle Agency
August 7 - Triangle Agency
Corporate horror, absurdism, and the paranormal collide.
The spring/summer lineup of RPG Nights really shows the diversity in games, and we are very excited to add Triangle Agency to our list of games. With a beautiful box set and a setting + theme that will win over any fans of Severance or The X-Files, this game might just convince the most stubborn players to try something new.
Navigate red tape and a staggering bureaucracy to hunt down and capture supernatural anomalies! This game will rely more on storytelling than combat rules, and hide in-game information behind in-game paywalls. It's like playing a worse version of our own reality. For fun. It is fun, though, so sign up! We will use a lot of d4s--everyone's favorite dice!
