Bell Riots

STA 2e

Relive the pivotal Deep Space Nine episode in STA

"...there is one thing I don't understand: how could they have let things get so bad?"
"That's a good question. I wish I had an answer."
– Julian Bashir and Benjamin Sisko, 2371 ("Past Tense, Part II")

This special session of Star Trek Adventures will bring the story to life. Play as Bashir, Sisko, Dax, and others, as we prevent wider-spread violence in our Star Trek world.

What makes it special is that all money collected will be donated to The Listening House, a local non-profit that helps stabilize the lives of those experiencing homelessness and isolation. They call themselves the "living room of the streets" and offer services and hospitality through the day to those in need. Learn more about them at https://www.listeninghouse.org/

Suggested donation is $20 per player, and up to $20 will be matched by Mercury Adventure Club to double the contribution to the organization.

More about the Story

The two-part episode "Past Tense" of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine introduced a series of events that took place in their retro-futurist version of San Francisco from August 30-September 3, 2024. The Bell Riots, as they came to be called, were a result of a society divided between haves and have-nots, where the latter were forced to live in Sanctuary Zones. The residents of these areas struggled in every sense; there were no jobs or prospects, little food, and security was a means of asserting control, rather than to keep the residents safe.

If it feels familiar, it is because the best sci-fi stories extrapolate on what we see around us in our own world and times. (On the other hand, the show was unable to accurately predict 2024 fashion and technology...)
